Police Blotter: Purse Stolen from Car With Open Windows in Downtown Lot

A look at the week in police activity.

 

A bike and a purse were stolen from downtown locations last week, with the owner of the purse saying it was taken from her car after she accidentally left the car windows opened in a parking lot. A local street sign was damaged and routine arrests were made in the last week.

Sept. 23

A Westfield resident reported the theft of a silver Rockhopper mountain bike from the bike rail at the southside train station parking lot. The bike was secured to the bike rail with a lock at 6:30 a.m. and was missing when the resident returned at 6:30 p.m. The bike is valued at $800.

A Westfield resident reported the theft of a purse from her car when it was left with the windows open between 8:30 p.m. and 9:05 p.m. The resident said she had left the windows open by accident while the car was parked in lot 5. The purse is described as a red Tory Burch purse valued at $400. A pair of Dolce and Gabana sunglasses valued at $200 was also stolen.

Sept. 26

Ayeisha A. Strothers, 23, of Newark was arrested for DWI during a traffic stop at Clark and Edgewood. She was transported to police headquarters and also charged with a $164 South Plainfield warrant. She posted bail.

Jihard Williams-Holmes, 20, of Linden was arrested at the Linden police department on a $250 Westfield warrant.

Sept. 27

Jemane Joshua, 22, of Plainfield was arrested at the Plainfield police department on warrants from Westfield and Fanwood. He was unable to post bail and was transported to the county jail.

Jehan Deepina-Veigo, 21, of Roselle was arrested at the Westfield police department on a $114 warrant. He posted bail.

An area resident reported an act of criminal mischief to the stop sign at Grove and Grandview.

Susan Polumbo, 38, of Colonia was arrested on a Westfield traffic warrant.

Sept. 30

Matthew White, 33, of Irvington was arrested on a Westfield warrant.

Oct. 1

Reginald Saunders, 56, of Perth Amboy was arrested for DWI during a motor vehicle stop at Summit Court and Rahway Avenue. He was transported to headquarters and released.
