Police Blotter: Bicycles Stolen, Credit Card Fraud

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

May 25 - Jorge Quizhpilema, 33, of Bloomfield, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by Manalapan Municipal Court. He was processed and turned over to the Manalapan Police Department.

Leah Fertig-Cohen, 22, of Westfield, was arrested on the strength of an oustanding traffic warrant ($106) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on the 400 block of W. North Avenue. Fertig-Cohen was transported to headquarters, processed and released on posted bail.

A resident of the 400 block of Lenox Avenue and a resident of the 500 block of Lenox Avenue both reported that their bicycles had been stolen while parked unsecured in municipal parking lot 5 behind Rialto Theatre. One bike was described as a Trek mountain bike, white in color with red and black stripes. It also had a green chain wrapped around the handle bar. It is worth an estimated $300. The second bike was described as a black Trek bike with silver, white and red stripes. The estimated value of the second bike is $450.

A black leather wallet was located on a bench on the 100 block of Central Avenue. The wallet contained a school ID, gift cards and U.S. currency. It was secured and placed in a temporary locker.

May 26 - Shana Brown, 26, of Linden, was arrested on an outstanding Roselle traffic warrant pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at E. North Avenue and Fourth Avenue. Brown was transported to headquarters, processed and released on her own recognizance.

May 29 - Melydeez Leon, 25, of Elizabeth, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at East Broad Street and Elmer Street on the strength of a warrant outside of this jurisdiction. Leon posted bail in the amount of $106.

May 31 - Martin Monaco, 18, of Westfield, was arrested for the possession of CDS/marijuana under 50 grams pursuant to an investigation on Mountain View Circle and Hillside Avenue. Monaco was transported to headquarters, processed and released on a summons.

Shawn Hendricks, 45, of Elizabeth, was arrested on the strength of a warrant for his arrest out of Westfield in the amount of $1,030. Hendricks was picked up from the Essex County Jail and transported to headquarters. Further investigation revealed that Hendricks had other warrants outstanding from Scotch Plains ($1,000) and Mountainside ($948). Hendricks was turned over to Union County Jail.

June 1 -  A bicycle located at the side, front entrance of Franklin School was stolen. The bike was described as BMX style, blue and black in color with black handlebars and pedals. It has one front peg and one in the rear. Its estimated value was not reported.

A resident of the 500 block of Dudley Avenue reported being the victim of theft and credit card fraud. The victim reported that an unknown suspect charged $93.24 on the stolen credit card.

A resident of South Avenue reported being the victim of credit card fraud. The victim reported than an unknown suspect charged $606 on the credit card.
