Police Blotter: June 26 - July 11, 2012
The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
June 26 – A resident of the 800 block of Willow Grove Road reported the theft of a wooden six-step staircase from their front lawn. The resident was not sure when the theft occurred. The steps had an approximate value of $500.
A resident of the 700 block of Lawrence Avenue reported that unknown suspect(s) damaged landscape lights sometime between June 24 and June 25. Suspect(s) broke one light and stole others. The lights had an approximate value of $200 each.
June 27 – Luis Quintero, 22, of Elizabeth, was arrested at Westfield Municipal Court. He was released later that night and was credited with time served.
Tyshon Gonzalez, 23, of Plainfield, was arrested at Somerset County jail on a Westfield warrant for $707. Bail was waived from additional jurisdictions. Gonzalez was committed to Union County jail.
June 28 – Oksana Rubin, 42, of Springfield, was arrested and charged with assault by automobile. Rubin was released on a summons. Rubin's arrest was the result of crash and subsequent investigation that occurred on April 28 on Mountain Avenue, in which Rubin had operated a motor vehicle and was charged with driving while impaired.
July 2 – Richard Morales, 20, of Elizabeth, was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant out of Marlboro Township Municipal Court ($165) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue. Morales was transported to headquarters, processed and released after posting cash bail.
A resident of the 400 block of Sandford Avenue reported being the victim of theft and fraud. The resident reported that $2,050 worth of personal items were taken and that she was paid with a bad check.
A resident of the Borough of Califon reported being the victim of a theft. The unknown suspects stole $12,950 worth of construction equipment from a job location in Westfield.
July 3 – Wayne Henry, 44, of Newark, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Westfield Municipal Court ($180). Further investigation revealed that Henry had a no-bail warrant issued in his name by the Clarke County (Ga.) Sheriff’s Department. Contact was made with the agency and the agency was willing to extradite Henry, who was committed to Union County jail awaiting extradition.
A resident of Westfield reported being the victim of a theft. Unknown suspect(s) stole a laptop valued at $2,000. The victim was not sure where the laptop was stolen from.
July 4 – A resident of Westfield reported the theft of their iPhone 4S from a business on the 200 block of Elm Street. The approximate value of the phone and its black and blue case was $700.
July 5 – Thomas Wansaw, 51, was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident at Central and Terminal Avenues. The accident took place at a different location on Central Avenue and the subject had left the scene. Wansaw was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
Kristine Wansaw, 53, was arrested at headquarters on two warrants, one out of Elizabeth ($1,055) and one out of Woodbridge ($1,258). Wansaw was turned over to Woodbridge Police Department.
July 6 – Kenneth Morgan, 38, of Plainfield, was arrested at South and Windsor Avenues on an active fugitive warrant out of Union County Superior Court. While making the motor vehicle stop for suspended driving, NCIC (National Crime Information Center) returned a wanted person’s hit. Morgan was turned over to the Union County Sheriff’s Department.
July 9 – Virginia Dewitt, 54, of Plainfield, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Westfield ($750). Further investigation revealed that Dewitt had another warrant for her arrest out of Clark Municipal Court ($467). She was processed and held in cell #1 before being transported to Union County jail.
Ronald Whitehead, 50, of Newark, was arrested at Essex County jail on the strength of a traffic warrant out of Westfield ($239) and transported to Union County jail in lieu of posted bail.
Stanley Guillaume, 22, of Linden, was arrested at Linden Police Department on an outstanding Westfield criminal warrant ($375). Guillaume was transported to headquarters, processed and released on posted bail.
Ralph Rotondo, 21, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding traffic warrant out of Westfield ($170) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on East Broad and Elmer Streets. Rotondo was transported to headquarters, processed and released on posted bail.
July 10 – Michael Lee, 20, of Scotch Plains, was arrested for possession of CDS/marijuana under 50 grams pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at North and Edgewood Avenues. Lee was transported to headquarters, processed and released on his own recognizance.

1) did someone really have their front steps stolen? WOW, what a surprise in the morning when you step out
2) so someone was arrested, put in jail for a few hours, and then released because of the "time served" credit?
