Police Blotter: Three Cars Burglarized on W. South Avenue

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

August 28 – Michael Weisinger, 37, of Staten Island, N.Y., was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on Clark Street near Brightwood Avenue. Weisinger was processed and released to a responsible adult.

August 29 – James T. Burns, 31, was arrested on an active criminal warrant issued by Linden Municipal Court in the amount of $2,500 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on the 100 block of Elm Street. Burns was transported to police headquarters, processed and held in lieu of bail.

Jahmod Sutton-Harcum, 19, of Plainfield, was arrested and charged with possession of percocet (oxycodone) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at W. South Avenue and Hort Street. Sutton-Harcum was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on a summons.

August 30 – An attempted burglary was reported on the 900 block of Wyandotte Trail. Unknown suspect attempted to enter a residence through a first-floor window.

August 31 – Jeanphili Brisson, 39, was arrested after responding to police headquarters to satisfy an outstanding traffic warrant issued by Springfield Municipal Court in the amount of $300. Brisson was released after posting bail.

Jose Gutierrez, 20, of Newark, was arrested on a warrant issued by Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $67 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at East Broad and Elmer Streets. Gutierrez posted bail and was released.

September 1 – David Askew, 33, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested on the strength of a warrant issued by Piscataway Municipal Court in the amount of $750 pursuant to a stop at East Broad and Prospect Streets. Officers responded at the request of New Jersey Transit on a report of two disorderly males aboard a bus. Upon arrival, police ejected subject and a second individual from the bus. New Jersey Transit did not wish to file a complaint at the time. Subject was released on his own recognizance per Piscataway authorities and given a court date of September 4.

September 2 – Kyle Harvin, 36, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at Dudley and Mountain Avenues. Harvin was released to a responsible adult.

September 4 – Chris Fernandez, 19, of Union, was arrested on the strength of a warrant for his arrest issued by Union Municipal Court in the amount of $120 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. Fernandez posted bail and was released.

Jonathan Rodriguez, 23, of Elizabeth, responded to Westfield Police Department to satisfy a warrant issued by Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $500 and a warrant issued by Jersey City in the amount of $99. Rodriguez was processed and released after posting bail.

September 5 – Lamont Jordan, 35, of North Plainfield, was arrested at Carteret Police Department on the strength of an outstanding warrant issued by Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $2,500 and by South Plainfield Municipal Court (an ACS warrant in the amount of $1,000 and an ATS warrant in the amount of $1,000). Jordan was transported to Westfield Police Department, processed and released after posting bail.

Justin Martinez, 22, of Elizabeth, was arrested pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at E. North Avenue and St. Paul Street on the strength of a criminal warrant issued by Linden Municipal Court. Martinez was transported to Westfield Police Department, processed and released after posting $250 bail.

Michael Palumbo, 43, of Colonia, was arrested in the parking lot of Target in Clark on the strength of two warrants: one issued by Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000 and one issued by Madison Municipal Court in the amount of $500. Palumbo was turned over to Union County Jail.

Jonathan Towers, 19, of Livingston, was arrested on the strength of two warrants: one issued by Westfield Municipal Court and one issued by Irvington Municipal Court. Towers posted bail and was released.

A theft was reported of a 500 pound metal bench from the 100 block of Elm Street. The bench is valued at $1,200.

September 8 – Kyle Brennan, 21, of Fanwood, was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident at Lamberts Mill Road and Rahway Avenue. Brennan was released to a sober adult.

A Westfield resident reported a burglary to a motor vehicle while parked at an establishment on the 1000 block of W. South Avenue. Suspect(s) shattered the driver’s side window and removed a Garmin GPS with a value of about $120.

A Garwood resident reported a burglary to a motor vehicle while it was parked on 100 block of W. South Avenue. Suspect(s) shattered the driver’s side window and removed a Garmin GPS with a value of about $150.

A Westfield resident reported a burglary to a motor vehicle while it was parked at an establishment on the 1100 block of W. South Avenue. Suspect(s) shattered front passenger side window and removed a wireless phone speaker valued at $200.

September 9 – Joseph K. Bethune, 22, of Newark, was arrested on strength of a Newark warrant in the amount of $250 pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue in Garwood. Bethune posted bail and was released.

September 10 – As a result of a motor vehicle stop, Everette White, 23, of Hillside, was arrested on the strength of a South Plainfield traffic warrant in the amount of $389. White was processed and posted bail.
