Police Blotter: Car Stolen From Ramapo Way Driveway

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

April 28 - A resident of the 800 block Ramapo Way reported the theft of a black Mercedes Benz SL500 from their driveway between 4 and 5:30 p.m. The estimated total value of the vehicle and the contents inside is $96,600. The matter is currently under investigation. 

Oskana Rubin, 41, of Springfield, was arrested on suspicion of DWI pursuant to a motor vehicle accident. Rubin was transported to the hospital, processed and turned over to the medical staff. 

April 29 - A resident of the 0-100 block of Fair Hill Road reported a burglary to their residence between 7:15 and 11:30 p.m. The suspects appear to have entered through an unsecured first-floor window. They then entered the master bedroom and stole property with an estimated total value of $4,950. There are no suspects or witnesses at this time.

Adam Bassi, 22, of Downers Grove, IL, was arrested on an outstanding criminal warrant out of Lyndhurst Municipal Court ($300) pursuant to an investigation at N. Scotch Plains Ave. and Roosevelt Street. Bassi was transported to headquarters, processed and released on his own recognizance. 

April 30 - Marlo Flores, 40, of Elizabeth, was arrested for shoplifting from Lord and Taylor. Subject was transported to headquarters, processed and turned over to Union County Jail after not being able to post bail. Further investigation revealed a detainer from I.C.E.

May 1 - Susan Buckland, 48, of Garwood, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for her arrest issued by Fanwood Municipal Court ($219). Buckland was transported to headquarters, processed and released on her own recognizance. 

A resident of Paterson who was doing work at 1000 Central Avenue reported being the victim of a theft. Unknown suspects gained entry to the vehicle by smashing out windows and stealing a GPS (estimated value: $110). 

Ralph Luther, 52, of Edison, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by the Fanwood Municipal Court ($250). Luther was transported to headquarters, processed and released. 

May 2 - Michael Ebert, 47, of Scotch Plains, was detained by Westfield Police after they were contacted by Scotch Plains Police and informed them that Ebert was wanted for questioning for an assault that had taken place in Scotch Plains. It was later determined that he was driving while intoxicated. Ebert was processed by Westfield Police and charged with a refusal to submit to a breath test, driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. Ebert was then turned over to Scotch Plains Police. 

May 3 - Shakeeda Ross was arrested on the 600 block of W. South Avenue during a motor vehicle stop for hindering apprehension. While at headquarters, it was determined that there were three outstanding criminal warrants for Ross: two out of Watchung ($2,966) and one out of Plainfield ($376). Bail was set at $1,000 for the hindering charge. Ross was held for an arraignment the next day. 

May 4 - A Linden resident, 31, was arrested for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop and investigation at Central Avenue and Oxford Terrace. The subject was also charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license and was released to a sober adult. 

May 5 - John Kandel, of Garwood, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Fanwood ($89) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. Kandel was processed and released after posting bail.
