Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

UPDATE: Live Coverage of Hurricane Irene Aftermath

Here's where you'll find all your Hurricane Irene updates in a live blogging format and how it affects Union County.

Hurricane Irene has hit and now we are dealing with flooding, power outages and concerns for our friends and family.

If you can't see our live blog, please go to http://www.coveritlive.com/ and keep up with Patch updates there (or download the coveritlive app.)

So we want to know: What are you doing now? What have you learned? Have any photos of flooding and damage in your area? Send them to Patch or provide us with updates on power outages, downed trees and power lines and we will be sure to share the information with your neighbors.

Join us in the live chat above, as we track the storm all weekend.

(Note: Our system requires us to OK comments from users, so if you don't see your comment show up immediately, we may have stepped away briefly; if so, we'll get your comment up just as soon as we return).

We're also bringing in Twitter feeds from Patch sites and valuable resources for NJ and Union County area residents.

You can help us serve the community by letting us know what you're seeing and hearing—even the simplest details can help keep a neighbor safe or prepared.

As far as we're concerned, the most important contribution to the conversation is yours.

Stay safe!

Ok, what if....Springfield residents loose power. No internet, limited cell phone...an evacuation order is issued. How would someone, like myself, for example, know to evacuate?

Could Westfield including Linden Avenue around Wilson School Flood?

Matt - It is unlikely for that area of Westfield to flood due to the high elevation of that neighborhood. Most flooding has been street flooding on Lamberts Mill and basement flooding. That said, due to the nature of the storm, I would not rule anything out, but it is highly unlikely.

Do you know anything about the stream behind Lamberts Mill Road?

Wind damage would be the most likely damage to impact Westfield based on past storms over the last two years, which brought down tree limbs on multiple occasions and several whole trees. I know a tree fell in that area, within the last year. Where in town do you live?

Just an update on Scotch Plains and the videos I posted earlier of Park Ave./Route 22: the water has receded (and the car was towed), but I still saw some water at the 22 East exit onto Park Ave. I checked again and can see traffic moving on 22 East (not sure about West), so it must be passable now.

SP Resident - the street is free of water, but a tree just came down (split in half) about an hour or so ago, when we had the wind gusts. I just posted a photo on this page of the tree. As far as garages go, no one seems like they're having flood issues, though I couldn't fully tell from my vantage point.

MSNBC has done a great job covering the storm, pretty factual. Try to stay off the roads until tomorrow. Lots of downed trees and power lines on the North side including Mountainside up to RT.22.
