Update: 8:20 a.m. Monday,North Avenue Car Accident Sends Two to Hospital

Accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23.

Reid Edles, president of the Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, said the injuries sustained in Sunday evening's motor vehicle accident were not life-threatening. 

Original: The Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to a motor vehicle accident on North Avenue near Tuttle Parkway at 7:20 p.m. Sunday.

Two patients were transported to the hospital, rescue squad president Reid Edles confirmed.

The accident temporarily closed a portion of North Avenue but the road was reopened before 9 p.m., according to the Westfield Police Department.

This stretch has been the scene of multiple accidents this year. In September, a two-car accident sent two patients to nearby hospitals. In late January,  68, of Scotch Plains was passing through the intersection of North Avenue at Tuttle Parkway when it is believed she grazed a pedestrian as he crossed the street.
