Lock Damaged in Attempted Train Station Bike Theft
Attempted theft follows multiple thefts from train station in recent weeks.
Westfield police are investigating an attempted bike theft at the train station from Thursday.
A Westfield resident contacted police Thursday evening that an unknown individual attempted to forcibly remove the lock to his bike while it was secured to a bike rack in the north side train station parking lot. The resident said the lock was damaged beyond repair and is now unusable. The bike was not damaged during the attempted theft.
The attempted bike theft follows a series of bike thefts from the south side train station parking lot in recent months. The thefts included stealing the lock and chain used to secure the bike to the rack.
The theft remains under investigation by the detective bureau.
