Christopher Academy, New Jersey’s oldest Montessori school is announcing its 2013 summer camp program serving ages 2 ½ through 7.
Christopher Academy was founded 50 years ago by a group of Westfield residents who wanted Montessori education for their children. Today the school comprises two campuses, located in Scotch Plains and Westfield, both introducing a 6-week camp program starting June 24.
The summer program in Westfield offers a small-group half-day program, introducing the beginning Montessori materials for the youngest students. This is an ideal summer program for first-time campers or children new to Montessori.
By maintaining a small group size, the Summer Program at Westfield gives children the opportunity to become comfortable with classroom routines, build independence, and secure new friendships.
The Scotch Plains Summer Camp is available on a half or all day basis offering children an opportunity to engage in a range of enriching activities. This camp is designed to mirror a neighborhood offering a high quality, educationally enriching experience that mixes exuberant activities with quieter academic ones. The children will be offered activities from cooking, art and music to science and sports such as hockey, soccer, relay races and more.
“Both our camp programs complement our traditional school-year programs in a joyful, homelike setting”, says Henriette Petersen, Director of Operations. “Knowing that children learn from play and formal instruction we combine both every day.”
Christopher Academy is a full and accredited member of American Montessori Society and the National Council for Private School Accreditation.
