Accident at Central and Lenox Avenues Sends Two to Hospital
A two-car accident occurred just before 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
The Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad transported two people to the hospital following a two-car accident that occurred at the intersection of Central and Lenox Avenues just before 11 a.m. Saturday.
One vehicle struck a one-way street sign. Two ambulances were on the scene and volunteer EMS technicians treated a woman who was in the vehicle that hit the sign as well as a woman who was travelling in the other car.
Westfield Police Department Officer Scuozo said there was nothing unusual about the accident, "just the usual two-car fender bender."
As it is St. Patrick's Day, the WPD reminded residents to designate a driver if they will be drinking today. Increased DWI checkpoints will be set up around town, according to WPD Captain David Wayman.
