Franklin's Measurement Day

  • June 1, 2012
  • School: Franklin Elementary School
  • Award: Measurement Day

Second graders at Franklin Elementary School recently participated in Measurement Day, where nine stations were set up with hands-on activities dealing with the capacity, length and mass concepts they had been studying in their math curriculum. Students particularly enjoyed seeing if their height and arm span measures made them a "square" or a "rectangle," observing how far plastic frogs could hop, and how much water they could squeeze out of a sponge using their left hands. It was a fun way to explore and reinforce math concepts!
